SUCCESS STORIES

  • ESSELUNGA CAMPAIGN “AMICI DI SCUOLA”
Dear Parents,
Esselunga is once again promoting their “Amici di Scuola” campagne.
We have taken part over the years and have managed to send a wealth of resources to our school in Kenya.
A heartfelt thank you to all of our parents and students who will continue to support this initiative this year too.
Please bring your tokens to school and post them in the “Amici di Scuola”
Postbox in the atrium.

Warmest wishes,
Debbie
P.S.
I will be visiting the school in October. If you have any English story books or educational toys (lego, wooden puzzles) that your children have outgrown that you would like to donate, please bring them to school.

ONE SIMPLE GIFT CAN DO SO MUCH!

One of the many reasons why we are proud of our school is the fact that every member of our school community never leaves anyone behind: our community works hard to meet the needs of the people around us. It is committed to doing so in the future!

In the last few years, it has become a great tradition for our school to collect the Esselunga coupons every year and use them to buy useful materials for our school in Kenya. As members of the BES Student Council, we are incredibly proud to announce that also this year, the members of our community have generously donated their Esselunga tickets to allow us to buy some very useful tools that will promote quality education and learning in our sister school in Kenya. Here are some of the comments of our proud members:

  • Every year BES collects coupons from the Esselunga initiative “Amici di Scuola” to buy supplies for people who can’t afford them. This year we are donating to our school in Kenya. I feel very lucky to be able to learn and have all these things that I do, and they deserve a chance, too: everyone does! (Benji).

  • Matteo: This year, as in the past, we are collecting coupons for The Learning Hub School in Kenya. We want to donate materials like iPads, pencils, markers, play dough, etc. By doing this, we want to make a difference! (Matteo)

One simple gift can do so much: we’re sure that our Kenyan brothers and sisters will make good use of it. Everyone deserves the instruments to learn, and this year, this wish will be granted to the Kenyan school.

  • CAMILLA BELLORA MEETS BOB – HER “CHILDHOOD FRIEND”

Camilla’s parents had sustained Bob’s education since Nursery School. Finally Camilla had the possibility of meeting Bob.

Camilla Bellora, ex student at BES Milan and now studying at the British School of Milan, dedicated her winter holiday to do voluntary work at the Learning Hub. For Camilla it was also a very special occasion to meet the young man who has been sponsored by Camilla’s family since he was in Nursery School. The reunion was very touching. Here below is a letter from Bob Daniel and one from Camilla

Bob Daniel’s letter

My name is Daniel Bob and I have finished secondary school. I am 18 years old and I live in Malindi in Kenya. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to my sponsors. You have shown your sincere kindness by lending a hand in my education and  wellbeing. Your sponsorship has helped me to realise that dreams do come true and that I can be what i want to be. After meeting one of my sponsors Camilla Bellora I thereby can say thank you a million times over and still it would not be enough to show how appreciative I am of you. No letter could encompass the love I have for you.

In my experience it’s a blessing to meet someone who has helped you and so I thank God for bringing Camilla. After so many years we finally met in 2017 February. I felt as if I was living in a world of dreams.

Thank you

Bob

Camilla’s letter

Having met my brother after having heard of him for 17 years was a miracle. It was emotional. When I saw him for the first time, it was as if I had known him forever. We spoke for ages, and he told me everything about himself. He still texts me every day and I hope to see him soon.

I was left speechless after my experience in Kenya. The children, the views, the people, the nature and the joy in the air.

The one thing I will never forget, are the smiles of the school children every morning when I walked through the school gates.

The way they braided my hair and had a smile on their faces every minute of every hour made me realise how there is no need for material things to be happy. All they had was a roof over their head, food to eat, a class in which to learn and friends to play with.

  • TWINS CELEBRATE THEIR BIRTHDAY IN A VERY SPECIAL WAY

Eugenio and Edoardo who were celebrating their sixth birthday are already “Learning to Give”. Instead of receiving birthday presents from their school friends to celebrate their birthday, they asked for a donation to be given to the children at the Learning Hub. The boys managed to raise an astounding Euro 600. Together we looked through the Educational resource catalogue and the boys chose a selection of didactic material. When the material arrived, we opened the boxes with their friends.
